Dalet, a leading technology and service provider for media-rich organizations, today announced that Picture Production Company (PPC) a dynamic marketing agency specializing in the film and television industries, is collaborating with Dalet to develop and implement modern production-based workflows and AI capabilities that achieve greater efficiencies.

With offices in London and Los Angeles, PPC services major entertainment clients globally. Each location has its own specific workflow powered by Dalet Flex. With flexibility and efficiency key for its busy operation, PPC continually optimizes the content creation workflows using the latest technology innovations.

“With Dalet Flex, we’ve created an environment with less internal noise and faster production processes,” says Dave Chordia, Chief Operations Officer (COO) at PPC. “We’re excited about the future and the continued improvements we’ll achieve with Dalet Flex.”

Dalet Flex powers end-to-end content production and media supply chain workflows with media asset management (MAM) and workflow orchestration across PPC’s London and Los Angeles offices, enabling a best-in-class user experience from both sides of the globe. One of the standout features of Dalet Flex is its seamless integration with best-of-breed Artificial Intelligence (AI) engines. PPC chose to incorporate Wasabi AiR into their Dalet workflow. The first step in revolutionizing their operations is leveraging AI for content ingest. All content ingested into Dalet Flex is automatically sent to the AI engine for specialized services such as transcription, particularly speech-to-text and text-to-text.

PPC manages content for nearly 90 territories worldwide, many of which encompass multiple languages. Instead of having on-site linguists, PPC collaborates with suppliers and in-territory translators globally to create localized content.

English language transcripts are the starting point for PPC’s localization pipeline to translators and dubbing studios around the world. While automatic transcription may seem ubiquitous, PPC needs a secure, scalable enterprise process that leverages human review and correction. Although it is a closed system to protect the clients’ IP, with human intervention, the system can learn the intricacies of idioms, colloquialisms, and cultural references to properly represent tone and intent.

An ISO-certified company, Dalet offers flexible deployment options on-premises, in the cloud, or as a hybrid configuration. Their commitment to industry-standard security ensures that PPC’s content is safeguarded at every stage.

Dalet, a leading technology and service provider for media-rich organizations, today announced that Cricket Australia (CA) has chosen Dalet Flex to increase fan engagement, deliver more content for all its member clubs and leverage the power of AI to monetize their large historical archive. CA is the national governing body for the game of cricket in Australia, responsible for curating and producing a growing range of cricket-related content. The move is part of their ongoing commitment to continue upgrading its media operations and providing a top-tier fan experience that truly resonates with cricket enthusiasts across the nation.

“A key element of Cricket Australia’s 2022-2027 Strategic Plan is to deliver brilliant experiences to our member clubs and their participants, with data and analytics as key enablers – something that can only be achieved by working with the right technology partners,” states Dan Allan, senior content manager, Broadcast, Cricket Australia. “The Dalet solution has enabled us to further upgrade our operations and reduce on-premises infrastructure. We have eliminated significant content duplication, which saves unnecessary storage, and regained control of our historical content. This is allowing our creative teams to focus on what they do best – deliver engaging content that unites and inspires everyone to love and play cricket.”

Cricket Australia was looking to replace their previous media asset management toolset, which had reached end-of-life. Increasing productivity and delivering higher volumes of content with their existing teams was also part of their strategy. With decades of irreplaceable archives, it was important for CA to preserve and reclaim the value of their historical library. Following careful evaluation, Dalet solutions, in use by other governing bodies, both in Australia, such as the Australian Football League and the National Rugby League, and worldwide (Italian Premier Football League, French Football League, and more), were the ideal choice.

Technology that Delivers True Value

Powered by Dalet Flex and deployed on Microsoft Azure, the technology overhaul eliminates critical technical debt and operational drag, optimizing Cricket Australia’s production and distribution workflows on a centralized, all-in-one solution for ingest, AI-driven asset management, transcoding and delivery.

With Dalet Flex, both archive and production content distributed across disparate storage locations has been aggregated into a central repository. This brings considerable time and resource savings compared to the previous archive workflow.

The Dalet Flex platform incorporates AI analysis from Dalet Media Cortex which will index both live and archived content for speech-to-text transcription, close caption generation, player face cataloging and brand recognition for content monetization. Automated workflows ensure relevant content is delivered to the right audiences across a range of platforms, including fast turnaround of live events’ highlights to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, as well as Cricket Australia’s webpage. With a range of third-party integrations, such as live replays from EVS, Adobe Premiere Pro for editing, and Opta by Stats Perform for sports data import, the Dalet solution empowers CA’s creative teams to concentrate on producing high-value content.

“Dalet has extensive expertise helping sporting teams, leagues and federations – we know what matters to them and how ensuring their stakeholders and followers continue to enjoy historical archives is key,” says Ren Middleton, VP Sales – APAC at Dalet. “We have worked closely with Cricket Australia to deliver a solution that enhances productivity and accelerates time-to-market while opening the door to new revenue opportunities.”

Dalet, a leading technology and service provider for media-rich organizations, announced the availability of Dalet InStream, the  elastic IP ingest SaaS solution that enables customers to dynamically scale ingest operations in a matter of seconds. Complementing the high-density Dalet Brio on-premises ingest and playout platform, the cloud-native Dalet InStream leverages the agility and performance of the cloud in a pay-per-use model, bringing greater efficiency, flexibility, and cost savings to capturing news, sports, and other key live events. Dalet InStream seamlessly integrates across the Dalet ecosystem – Dalet Flex, Dalet Pyramid, and Dalet Galaxy five – enabling customers to schedule, record, access, edit, and deliver content from anywhere, faster than ever. The flexible end-to-end cloud workflows provide customers with new opportunities to expand their programming and significantly reduce total cost of ownership (TCO).

“The amount of content our news and sports customers need to capture and manage from live events is growing exponentially, overwhelming their existing on-premises infrastructure. These companies are looking for a cost-effective solution that enables them to ingest content from an ever-growing number of live sources while reducing reliance on on-premises resources that typically sit idle for hours on end. Dalet flips this challenge into an opportunity, allowing them to scale their ingest capabilities as needed to thrive in an IP-first world,” states Lincoln Spiteri, CTO, Dalet. “Recording simultaneous IP streams, particularly for major live events such as the Olympics and national elections, has typically been complex and expensive. Fully integrated within Dalet’s cloud-native ecosystem, including the web-based editor Dalet Cut, Dalet InStream opens new doors for media organizations to accelerate their content time-to-market and expand their programming.”

With the introduction of Dalet InStream, any ingest scenario required by Dalet customers is now fully supported: from IP streams in the cloud to on-premises SDI & IP feeds, standard file upload and camera card ingest. Dalet InStream is also a major milestone for the Dalet cloud-native product roadmap. It completes Dalet’s end-to-end ingest-to-distribution cloud offering, providing customers the flexibility and computing power of the cloud on an architecture and business model that future-proofs their operations.

Dalet InStream can be deployed within a day. No additional hardware investment or resources required. With a flexible subscription and pay-per-use model, customers can significantly reduce ingest costs with potential savings between 50 and 80 percent.

Key Capabilities of Dalet InStream

The solution introduces agility and efficiency to ingest operations through a range of key functions:

  • Scale ingest capabilities dynamically based on immediate needs, removing barriers for expanded opportunities.
  • Access ingest content from anywhere and enable faster workflows with growing file support, allowing you to begin editing immediately.
  • Reduce total cost of ownership while maintaining broadcast-quality capture and formats (high resolution and proxy generation).
  • Centralize operations with a user-friendly interface that enables users to manage both IP and on-premises SDI ingest, when combined with Dalet Brio.
  • Support a wide range of broadcast feed formats including SRT, NDI or RTMP from web sources, Zoom and backpack solutions to ingest live content from the field.
  • Optimize and streamline operations for news organizations through centralized recordings, which are available to users across multiple sites. This significantly eliminates the need for duplicate human and staff efforts and technical resources, introducing considerable TCO savings.

In conjunction with Dalet InStream, customers can leverage tools such as the web-based media editor Dalet Cut for live editing, fast-tracking assembly of content for highlights, social sharing, or programs, as well as distribution – all in the cloud.

The underlying cloud-native architecture of Dalet InStream provides the firepower required to manage the recording of the world’s most complex events while future-proofing the platform for future transformation. As a SaaS offering, Dalet InStream users always leverage its latest capabilities, thanks to recurrent updates and no maintenance requirements.

Dalet, a leading technology and service provider for media-rich organizations, has introduced significant updates across its media logistics, AI-driven production and IP ingest and playout product line. Cloud-native platforms Dalet Flex, Dalet Media Cortex and Dalet Brio support the industry’s continued transition with flexible hybrid and cloud workflows offering media organizations the digital dexterity they require to power work-from-home scenarios. Robust APIs and Integration Panels simplify collaboration with creative tools like Adobe® Premiere® Pro and enterprise applications like Salesforce and Slack, enabling transformative media and business workflows for Dalet customers.

“These new capabilities help our customers to not only hurdle the challenges of a workplace in transition, but be better prepared for any future disruptions,” states Bea Alonso, chief market officer, Dalet. “Our customer experience is at the heart of development and Dalet is delivering highly adaptive tools that improve media workflows and the overall business outcome. We look forward to rolling out these capabilities to our customers and showcasing them in person at CABSAT2021 (stand Z2H) and IBC2021 (suite 1BS21) events as well as virtually at Dalet Connect.”

Single Source of Truth Across the Media Supply Chain

Dalet Flex centralizes production, distribution and archiving workflows into a configurable content management application that makes it easier and less expensive to manage, package and distribute content. Advanced metadata and analytics capabilities, underpinned by a media asset management (MAM) layer and orchestration engine, provide a single source of truth for media assets across the entire media supply chain. The polycloud Dalet Flex solution can be deployed on-premises, in the cloud or as a hybrid solution providing customers choice.

The new FlexXTEND Panel provides enhanced NLE integration with creative tools such as Adobe Premiere Pro. The panel features full search and content discovery with free text searching for general queries; advanced filters and sorting for targeted queries against any metadata, and saved searches for common queries. Users can work with proxy files or source content and have both thumbnail and list view for browsing and searching for content. They also have the ability to preview video, image and audio content before importing to a project. Users can cross-collaborate with FlexMAM and asset collections.

The Dalet product team continues to add important capabilities to Dalet Flex including previewing individually selected audio tracks, increased metadata thesaurus support and bulk metadata changes.

The Path Forward to IP Production Workflows

The Dalet Brio ingest and playout platform provides media companies a smooth transition path to full IP production workflows. Offering maximum flexibility for creating and delivering content across hybrid infrastructures, Dalet Brio supports greater density with more ingest and playout streams, making it even easier and faster for companies to migrate operations to IP without disrupting existing workflows that still rely on SDI. Smarter workload distribution and core optimizations around HD and UHD increase density and propel an overall smoother ingest and playout workflow for high resolution productions.

Augmented User Experience Thanks to AI

The Dalet Media Cortex AI service platform leverages cognitive services and machine learning to offer Dalet customers powerful speech to text, object recognition, facial recognition and automated subtitling services. Recent additions include APIs to translate captions while preserving timing information, eliminating the need to manually re-time translated captions. Additionally, the integrated caption editor now flags infringements around timing, line and character overlaps in real-time allowing users to address visual issues early on in the production process. A complement to both Dalet’s Media Workflows and News solutions, Dalet Media Cortex will also ship as part of the AI-powered newsroom starter pack for the soon-to-be-released Dalet Pyramid – Dalet’s next generation Unified News Operations.

“AI is becoming more pervasive in media production and at Dalet, we continue to integrate across offerings, helping customers do their jobs…better,” Bea adds. “Metadata, which is critical for AI workflows, is at the heart of all our platforms. We have expertise in leveraging it to propel productivity-enhancing AI workflows like real-time recommendation of indexed content for storytellers and automatic creation of subtitles for content destined for global audiences.”

Dalet Media Cortex powers AI-production across news and media workflows for users anywhere

Dalet Media Cortex aggregates technologies from best-in-class AI engines such as Amazon Web Services and Speechmatics to deliver outstanding results.

Cloud Inflection Point and the Need for Speed

The need to have remote workforces and business continuity has accelerated the industry’s pace into the cloud. Dalet offerings feature a full cloud or hybrid architecture in terms of compute and storage, allowing customers to design a workflow that eliminates existing technical debt and is more responsive to the fast changing environment.

Bea provides insight on Dalet’s cloud development and customer-centric business models, “All of our development is currently focused on cloud-native solutions, this means they are designed to work with cloud infrastructure from day one. Customers can benefit from Dalet’s hosted offerings, decreasing their infrastructure footprint and lowering their overall TCO while benefiting from the latest functionality.”

The Dalet SaaS business model lets customers consolidate costly systems, abdicating resource intensive maintenance while gaining the flexibility and mobility the cloud offers.

Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for media organizations and content professionals, today announced that the Al Rayyan TV Channel has centralized all of its media operations on the Dalet Galaxy five media platform. A subsidiary of the Al Rayyan Media and Marketing Company, Al Rayyan TV is known for its Qatari cultural programming, offering a range of in-house and locally produced entertainment, magazines and news-oriented shows. The enterprise-wide revamp of the technical infrastructure is part of the broadcaster’s move to its new state-of-the-art broadcast facility located in Souq Waqif, Doha. With Dalet Galaxy five underpinning the operation, the Al Rayyan TV team can seamlessly connect each stage of the workflow, managing content from the moment it arrives at the facility onto the production of programs to distribution over satellite, digital and social media channels from one platform. The fluid Dalet Galaxy five-driven workflow brings significant productivity gains to all aspects of the media operation, improving not only program time to air, but the overall quality of program packages with more time dedicated to content creation.

Mohamad Naim Al Said, Engineering Department Director, Al Rayyan

Mohamad Naim Al Said, Engineering Department Director, Al Rayyan, explains, “The business goal driving this upgrade is to meet the needs and expectations of the Qatari viewers and expatriates for a more robust program offering. Since we are a tapeless environment and to allow our teams to produce and share content internally much more efficiently, accelerating our production schedules while dedicating more time to crafting high-quality packages, we decided to go with Dalet Galaxy five as a collaborative software that centralizes our valuable assets under one single system. The underlying media asset management and workflow orchestration functionality allows us to exchange content seamlessly from one department to another, setting the stage for expanding our program production and delivery options. Two main sections of Al Rayyan Engineering Department such as MCR, Ingest, and Broadcast IT Teams which are being headed by Ghandi Elghotmi and Riyaz Mirza respectively, planned, initiated and completed the work tirelessly with SMC and Dalet during the launching of Dalet MAM System on the migration project.”

Ghandi Elghotmi and Riyaz Mirza of Al Rayyan TV

The full implementation of Dalet Galaxy five allows Al Rayyan to build an end-to-end digital content supply chain that connects and unifies all operations and processes from ingest to post-production, to distribution over satellite and social media channels, to archives. Key components include a centralized content catalogue (MAM), search and media management; seamless collaboration between all users, including editors on Adobe Premiere Pro CC through Dalet Xtend; centralized ingest management through Dalet Brio video server, and Dalet AmberFin scalable transcoding. Production and management teams across the operations can easily access the archives, having more options for program content thanks to seamless integration through the Dalet API.

Dalet Professional Services and local business partner Salam Media Cast collaborate with Al Rayyan Team through the entire process from architecting the new technical system, designing the new production and programming workflows, to implementing the solution, training the various user groups and support.

Dalet’s general manager of EMEA and APAC, Johann Zemmour, comments, “Dalet Galaxy five gives Al Rayyan a full-fledged content production, management and distribution platform that eliminates the legacy siloed organisation. It is a new agile, foundation backed by a team of experts that can help them make the leap forward. They can now leverage emerging technologies such as AI, adapt faster and create new efficiencies that will allow them to expand their programming beyond the expectations of their audience.”

Dalet, a leading developer of Media Asset Management (MAM) solutions, software and services for content producers, has announced that Al Rayyan Radio has selected Dalet Radio Suite powered by the Dalet Galaxy platform to transform its operational efficiency. The new installation forms part of a comprehensive station upgrade and includes Dalet On-Air playout, up to 10 edit suites, and the versatile audio editor Dalet OneCut.

Al Rayyan Radio, part of Al Rayyan Satellite Channel operated by Al Rayyan Media and Marketing based in Doha, Qatar, broadcasts two national channels of entertainment, music and cultural content. Regional systems integrator Media Group International (MGI) was commissioned to lead a major upgrade and approached Dalet to automate, streamline and unify all of Al Rayyan Radio’s media acquisition, production and delivery under a single advanced MAM platform.

“MGI was commissioned to handle the upgrade on the basis of its technical expertise and thorough knowledge of the technical systems Al Rayyan Radio wanted to implement,” explained Mohamed Makki Ibrahim, Business Development Manager at MGI. “The project involved installing a new two-channel control room, studio DJ room and edit room. A priority for Al Rayyan Radio was for the new systems to deliver on a far more efficient workflow than previously had. Dalet Radio Suite was our first choice to fully automate each channel’s media lifecycle from ingest and scheduling to editing and playout.”

Jamal Al Jaber, General Manager, Al Rayyan Radio, said, “We embarked on this major upgrade in order to achieve greater day-to-day efficiency and to maintain and enhance the quality of our output for our audience. At the same time we did not want to go off-air for a second. We knew that MGI and Dalet were the right partners to help us achieve this business transformation. The complete system, including the Dalet Radio Suite, has streamlined every aspect of our digital production chain enabling us to meet our objectives.”

For this turnkey solution, MGI also demolished and rebuilt the acoustic system and completely renovated the interior of Al Rayyan Radio’s building.

Michael Meisel, Area Sales Manager of the Middle East at Dalet, commented on the complexity of the installation. “It was a complicated upgrade because Al Rayyan Radio’s existing system stayed on-air throughout the build, so the migration of databases to the new system had to take place with zero downtime.”

Dalet Radio Suite’s centralized MAM content catalog seamlessly manages all programs and associated data. Combined with modular, task-specific tools, Dalet Radio Suite meets the comprehensive demands of large-scale newsrooms as well as the needs of multichannel music networks.

Dalet OneCut is an advanced audio editor that smoothly includes effects and supports multiple HD formats. The Dalet Dashboard helps administrators by monitoring the ongoing health and performance of their system.

Dalet On-Air is a proven and highly reliable automated solution used in some of the world’s largest multichannel operations.
