Dalet, a leading technology and service provider for media-rich organizations, and Italian partners EI Towers and CVE announced that the Lega Serie A Lissone-based production centre is using Dalet solutions to manage high-value sports content and production workflows. The top-flight Italian football league, which is one of the most valuable in the world in terms of annual revenue, consolidated its content production, management and distribution onto a centralized media infrastructure. The fundamental change to Lega Serie A’s media production was a significant technical uplift that leverages Dalet’s solutions for workflow automation and content management, increasing production value for 400-plus games and delivering in progressive UHD and 1080p formats over a full IP infrastructure. The enterprise implementation is entirely subscription-based to maximize flexibility and control costs.

“We took on an enormous challenge in building a new production infrastructure in such a short time – not just the workflows, but also a completely new facility in Lissone able to produce highlights, log match metadata and archive the assets. We needed reliable partners that would deliver and Dalet, together with CVE, did just that for the production part of this project. The solution has now been operating successfully for the whole of the season,” comments Piercarlo Invernizzi, CTO, EI Towers.

The Lega Serie A transformation is part of a growing trend across sports teams, leagues and federations that are partnering with experienced technology companies like Dalet to take full control of their media strategy and deliver exceptional fan experiences. Dalet’s agile media management technology and deep media expertise enable sports organizations to fully optimize content workflows and onboard future business opportunities with ease.

Business Opportunities and Economies of Scale

Dalet’s proven enterprise media workflow solution, Dalet Galaxy five, serves as the control layer for handling incoming transmissions from stadiums and managing that content across the production centre’s fast production storage, nearline storage and archives. The underlying Dalet media asset management platform and workflow engine tracks metadata and orchestrates key workflows including game content captured across 100 channels of Dalet Brio IP ingest as well as distribution of digital content packages to main broadcasters, media partners, telecommunication companies and teams using WEBPortals and direct contribution to the stadium during the live events via Dalet Brio IP output. Integrated Dalet production tools provide the frictionless editing and highlight production required in sports with remote collaboration from stadium to production centre made possible thanks to a secure, hybrid configuration.

“The scope of this big project is to follow the business vision of Lega Serie A, requiring a radical pivot of its entire media production and distribution chain. This is something Dalet is well versed in,” comments Massimo Berardi, General Manager – Italy, Dalet. “Dalet’s adaptive technology and agile platforms enable enterprise-level digital transformation and achieve economies of scale. Lega Serie A now has full control over its assets from the local level to international with tools that amplify content across marketing channels and real opportunities to create new lines of business at the club level thanks to better sharing, repurposing, and repackaging. They have more opportunities to expand and do so with a much greater degree of efficiency on a platform that is primed for the future.”

Enterprise Design and Staff Enablement Delivered in 30 Days

A first-of-its-kind installation, the Lega Serie A production centre encompasses 2,400 square meters of state-of-the-art media technology that features editing stations, post-production rooms, master control room, content control room, and a room dedicated to infographics. Dalet Professional Services collaborated with EI Towers and CVE to deliver more than 100 ingest channels, 12 playout channels, online production, nearline and archive storage, as well as editing and highlight production applications, along with Dalet MAM workflow design and training for the centre’s technicians and operators in a month. Dalet Professional Services along with business partner CVE also provide Lega Serie A with first-line, on-the-ground support services.

Massimo concludes, “The breadth and depth of the requirements and tight turnaround is a testament to the durability of Dalet technology and the deep technical expertise of the team to take on a project of this size and deliver on time to support it well into the future.”

Dalet, a leading technology and service provider for media-rich organizations, today announced that Radio Televisión Nacional de Colombia (RTVC), Colombia’s national radio and TV public channel, has chosen Dalet Galaxy five to facilitate its end-to-end news operation. Based in Bogotá, RTVC offers the latest news, educational and cultural entertainment over three terrestrial channels.

Previously, RTVC had outsourced its entire news production and distribution operation to a third-party. In 2020, the government approved a project to strengthen the infrastructure, information sourcing and news production in house under RTVC’s direction and mission, giving the broadcaster full creative control over story development and distribution. The new design and installation, which was led by noted system integrator NYL Electrónica, features capabilities to manage source materials and production including wires, news story planning and development, editing and graphics, and delivery. The underlying Dalet media asset management platform centralizes content for efficient access, while the core orchestration engine automates the story-centric workflow enabling a friction-free flow of content.

Carlos Raúl González Martínez, supervising transmission engineer, RTVC, noted that, in addition to its end-to-end news solution, Dalet’s vast experience in news production was equally as important for the successful launch. “The Dalet newsroom solution has extensive capabilities that we are able to perfect into a workflow for our specific needs. We also had the support of Dalet to help us define that workflow. This was extremely important because above all for RTVC, it was Dalet’s 20 years of experience that helped create a brand-new news environment with a new team. Beyond the learning curve, there were many factors we needed to take into consideration as we designed the very best workflow for our editors, graphic designers and playout. Thanks to their sound guidance, we have a highly reliable and responsive platform for what we need today that will support us into the future.”

The mandate called for deployment within two months of contract. With COVID-19 restrictions still in full force, Dalet and NYL Electrónica led the launch efforts virtually, with only key elements such as on-premises installation and coaching of personnel, done on site and in person.

“Dalet is known for its end-to-end News capabilities and is used across South America by many national broadcasters. This gave us the confidence to agree to deploy under such strict conditions and even stricter timeline,” states Roman Becerra, general manager, NYL Electrónica.

“In addition to offering all of the required capabilities of a fully functioning newsroom, the Dalet professional services team was instrumental in getting the entire staff up to speed and on air by the deadline,” adds Daniel Villavicencio, director of support, NYL Electrónica.

Like in most countries, the pandemic has increased the number of people tuning into the news for the latest information not only on TV, but social networks as well in Colombia. The team at RTVC is currently testing the integrated Dalet social media module which provides content creation and distribution as well as analytics on audience engagement, helping RTVC fine tune what content audiences are looking for.

“Bringing the news operation in house gives RTVC greater control over the story they need to tell with Dalet providing them with the platform to tell it quickly on any medium. They can easily reuse content from the archives and visually brand their content in new ways,” states Julian Decaix, general manager, Americas, Dalet. “While Dalet has perfected the story-centric workflow, RTVC now has the foundation to centralize its entire production, including its digital and radio channels onto one platform, connecting all systems and centralizing assets for cross channel use.”

Carlos concludes with the outstanding ongoing support that ensures RTVC continues to have a positive experience, “We are in a long term relationship with Dalet and I have to emphasize that the attention and the support is always there. No waiting a week for someone to respond to your call. If we have a question or something happens that we need assistance with, we can instantly get in touch with the team. The response is immediate by people who are familiar with our situation and team members. It’s the peace of mind you want in a high pressure broadcast situation.”

Dalet, a leading technology and service provider for media-rich organizations, today announced significant new updates to Dalet Flex, the award-winning media logistics platform used by brands, sports, and media organizations to bring content to audiences. The release enhances Dalet Flex’s end-to-end functional coverage and continuity for content preparation, packaging, and delivery across traditional, digital and social platforms.

“As the media ecosystem evolves, it becomes more complex and a real challenge to navigate for many,” states Mathieu Zarouk, Director Product Strategy, Media Workflows, Dalet. “Dalet Flex sits at the intersection, offering customers a single source of truth that enables them to effectively manage complex workflows and service license agreements (SLAs) that may involve multiple media packages going to a wide range of destinations. Dalet Flex provides a single source of truth and complex workflow management for content creators and distributors

What’s New in Dalet Flex?

The following Dalet Flex features continue to simplify managing media production and delivery:

Enhanced Production Capabilities

The updated FlexXTEND for Adobe® Premiere® Pro features a revamped user experience that makes FlexMAM’s advanced search capabilities available to editors. Using FlexXTEND, users can trigger rendering of their Adobe Premiere Pro sequence on a remote Adobe Media Encoder, minimizing media movements and freeing up their local system for continued use.

Ideal for storyboarding, content creators can organize sequences in Dalet Flex and easily share them with other Dalet Flex users or send them directly to Adobe Premiere Pro or Avid® Media Composer® for further editing.

The latest Dalet FlexXTEND panel brings improved integration with Adobe Premiere Pro

Improved Controlled Vocabulary and Search

Controlled Vocabulary brings efficiencies to content categories and makes content even more searchable and easier to share. Permissions management on tags collections, thesaurus support, and taxonomy improvements help users dial in faster to the content they need for their productions.

Additional search operations (for example “Contains,” “Start with” or “End with”) and user interface improvements make it easier for users to build and visualize even the most specific search queries. Users can now refine permissions for their searches to be visible to other users or groups, making collaboration easier.

Quicker and more granular search results with Dalet FlexMAM enhanced search capabilities

Resource Allocation and Auto-Scaling

Dalet Flex quotas allow admins to define concurrency limits on actions and workflows, offering yet another area in which productions can fine-tune processes for efficiency. Productions can optimize costs and efficiency by dynamically sizing their infrastructure to seamlessly support bursts in resource needs thanks to Kubernetes support for media processing services on Cloud infrastructure.

On the Horizon

Dalet Flex customers can look forward to continued enhancements over the next six months including new reporting tools for billing and cloud consumption costs, as well as support for additional languages within FlexMAM. In 2022, additional functionality will include a brand-new mobile app for searching and managing content, as well as enhanced multi-tenanted SaaS offerings.

Dalet and Bitmovin announced today a new collaboration that improves preparation and accelerates delivery of OTT content for broadcasters, sports leagues and teams, brands, and other media-rich companies. The first organization to take advantage of the new technology partnership is Australia’s National Rugby League (the NRL). The workflow integration, which features the advanced media logistics of Dalet’s Ooyala Flex Media Platform and Bitmovin’s blazing fast encoder technology, provides the NRL with the flexibility and agility to fully optimize their OTT strategy. Deep integration through the Dalet and Bitmovin open APIs enables them to expand existing offerings into new markets and geographies at scale; engage fans through multiple services such as VOD, apps and subscriptions; and augment revenue opportunities thanks to better visibility across their production and distribution operations.

Dalet’s Ooyala Flex Media Platform, deeply integrated with Bitmovin’s encoding, player and analytics offerings, redefines the economics and the experience of OTT video distribution for brands like the National Rugby League,” states Stefan Lederer, CEO, Bitmovin. “Viewers will be delighted with higher quality and a more diverse range of content. Streaming costs are drastically lowered through better use of bandwidth. With greater transparency across the operations, media organizations are able to make smarter decisions about legacy and future content and video reach.

Both our solutions are developed on the principle of openness and provide sophisticated automation for business scalability. This approach empowers our joint customers like the NRL to build integrated solutions and remain in total control of their asset life cycles,” comments Lee McMullan, Market Director – Multiplatform Distribution, Dalet. “Efficiency through automation and asset tracking enables digital and marketing teams to tap into archives, orchestrate content preparation, scaling distribution of rich content to a wider audience.

Dalet & Bitmovin

The National Rugby League (NRL) is one of Australia’s most popular and entertaining sports. The NRL telecasts have grown to become the most watched sporting programs on Australian television. Branching off the NRL is NRL’s Digital division; creating, producing, archiving and live-streaming hundreds of hours of content to NRL’s official website, NRL.com, and the Telstra NRL Official app on smart devices as well as the Telstra TV OTT device. NRL Digital’s underlying media technology also powers the 16 clubs and two states, as well as NRL operational websites and mobile applications content delivery, enabling better fan and members content experience online.

The combined Ooyala Flex Media Platform and Bitmovin solution made it easier for NRL’s staff to build ad-hoc workflows that could better tap into their rich inventory and distribute more editorial content, imagery and video across the NRL’s websites and mobile applications. Ooyala Flex Media Platform’s powerful and efficient workflow and content management capabilities orchestrated the media catalogs’ encoding, media movement and content discovery to surface near-live video to their audiences.

When working with video content from varying sources that needs to be published online (live, near-live or on-demand content), every workflow, metadata layer and media processing step adds time and complexity getting content to the audience. By combining the Ooyala Flex Media Platform and the Bitmovin solutions we have been able to reduce complexity and issues, optimising inefficient steps while successfully accelerating our online delivery workflows,” comments Quanah McBride, Head of Digital Media Operations, The National Rugby League.

Ooyala Flex Media Platform

The Ooyala Flex Media Platform reinforces business continuity with a hybrid or poly-cloud based content supply chain. In addition to integration with Bitmovin, Ooyala Flex Media Platform offers enhanced security capabilities and improved content discovery tools, improving OTT preparation and multiplatform distribution workflows that help content owners quickly scale their operations. Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for broadcasters and content professionals, has made significant advancements with the development of the Ooyala Flex Media Platform. Acquired in July 2019, Dalet has accelerated engineering of the solution across four key areas: User Experience; Core Platform Performance and Features; APIs; and OTT workflows. The firepower brought by the Dalet acquisition has enabled a larger scale of development, increasing the Platform’s capabilities to serve a wider range of organizations looking to take control of their video strategy, such as digital media teams, sports leagues and teams, as well as brands and media companies that are scaling up their digital offerings and going Direct-To-Consumer at an accelerated pace.

Stepping beyond the traditional broadcast space where Dalet has been a leader for years, the Ooyala Flex Media Platform is filling key media logistics requirements for companies like EnhanceTV, Arsenal Football Club and Migo in the Philippines – a startup that is looking to make OTT consumption of premium content affordable for developing countries,” comments Bea Alonso, Director of Product Marketing at Dalet. “With video as a core component of today’s business plans, these organizations require a content management platform that allows them to collaborate seamlessly, produce outstanding content fast, and take control of their media processing and distribution chain. The Ooyala Flex Media Platform is designed to streamline workflows, empowering companies to better monetize their content. It offers tremendous distribution versatility, allowing these companies to spin up campaigns and content offerings for social, digital and OTT quickly and efficiently.

Key development initiatives over the last six months include:

  • Enhanced Support for OVP/OTT workflows

The Ooyala Flex Media Platform extends its support for delivering content to a range of OVP providers, including the latest enhancements to the Brightcove Plug-in. “Our commitment to supporting OTT workflows is a top priority on the Dalet roadmap and is demonstrated in recent releases. Going forward, we will continue to expand on multi-platform distribution capabilities”, says Lincoln Spiteri, VP Engineering at Dalet. New OTT capabilities include support for MPEG-DASH and increased support for complex metadata hierarchies and taxonomies.

  • Exceptional User Experience

The latest OoyalaMAM, web interface, which has been designed with direct customer input, provides an exceptional user experience that enables fast adoption of tools and workflows. Rich new features include advanced asset search capabilities – including descriptive and temporal metadata, easy metadata curation, and tools to organize large asset collections. In addition, OoyalaMAM also provides media visualization aids in the form of audio waveform and audio level meters and a frame-accurate HTML5 video player, plus MP4, MPEG-DASH and HLS with audio switching and captions.

  • Formidable, Scalable Framework

Dalet R&D has significantly advanced the scalability, operability and reliability of the Ooyala Flex Media Platform. The Platform has consolidated its poly-cloud credentials and is available for deployment in Amazon AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure. It also supports on-premise bare-metal deployments. Spiteri adds, “Running in the cloud is one thing, running well in the cloud is another. Since 2015, the Ooyala Flex Media Platform has taken a cloud-native approach towards its underlying architecture. The Platform is fully containerized, built as a collection of microservices that play well with modern DevOps practices.” An updated storage abstraction layer improves the placement of assets across storage solutions, enabling more efficient multi-site operations with options to move assets and workflows to the cloud via hybrid-cloud deployments.

  • Open Platform Ready for Integration

Designed to integrate with any system with an open API, the Ooyala Flex Media Platform can extend workflows through messaging plugins and custom scripts. Alternatively, its own REST API allows clients to build their own applications on top of the Platform. New API advancements allow customers to develop native plugins that can be deployed into the Platform’s runtime. The job execution framework (JEF) and related SDK are available to customers who wish to extend the platform beyond what is achievable via scripting.

  • Monthly Release Cycle

Moving forward, Dalet will employ a monthly release cadence that allows Ooyala Flex Media Platform’s customers to adopt new capabilities and evolve workflows faster than ever before. The rapid R&D schedule will also ensure that the Platform and its numerous integrations remain secure and in compliance with strict industry standards, such as the DPP Committed to Security marks for Broadcast and Production.

Bea Alonso, Director of product marketing at Dalet shares her opinion on the role of OTT for capturing today’s TV audience.

“It was only a few years ago that video streaming was seen as a ’nice to have’, an addition to TVs, and there were doubts as to whether Netflix and HBO had the ability to disrupt the broadcast landscape. Consumers now have access to a wide range of viewing options, which explains why video analysis and creative content are more important than ever before.

Daily film and video consumption via the internet is increasing for all ages, 52% of UK households connect their TV to the internet. Senior viewership has long been a safe card for traditional TV, generally spending longer hours consuming television compared with younger viewers; with adults in the age group of 65 years and older watching 5.72 hours of TV each day.

Yet this is changing at an ever-increasing pace as the demographic now chooses to watch television via OTT platforms such as BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub and YouTube.”

Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for broadcasters and content professionals, will demonstrate how its newly expanded media product lineup manages the content supply chain from production to distribution for a much wider range of media management needs and a significantly broader market at the 2019 IBC Show (Hall 8, Stand B77), held in Amsterdam from September 13th through September 17th. The recent Ooyala Flex Media Platform business acquisition combined with new product introductions spanning broadcast graphics, AI-powered content and production workflows, and IP infrastructure add even greater breadth and depth to the Dalet media management capabilities.

Dalet IBC Previews 2

The expanded Dalet product offering answers the needs of existing news, sports, programs, radio and archive customers requiring solutions to enable enterprise orchestration, intensive production and multi-platform distribution workflows. For new customers and markets, including corporate brands, telcos, sports teams and leagues, Dalet now offers agile, subscription-based solutions to manage multi-platform packaging and digital media distribution workflows.

“Today, the ability to launch new services quickly at reduced operational costs is essential for content owners and distributors to remain competitive, and both Dalet and Ooyala have been helping them address this challenge in our respective areas of expertise. This was one of the key drivers behind the Ooyala acquisition,” states Kevin Savina, Director of Product Strategy, Dalet. “The Ooyala Flex Media Platform, with its strong OTT content supply chain and multi-platform distribution capabilities, is a perfect complement to Dalet Galaxy five, which is the platform of choice for production-intensive and enterprise media operations. We look forward to demonstrating that at IBC2019 alongside all the other innovations we will be showcasing on our other platforms.”

The platform now includes the ability to publish to multiple online video platforms, such as Kaltura, JWPlayer and Brightcove, offering increased support for OTT workflows and multi-platform distribution. Integration with Dalet AmberFin for orchestrated, high-quality media processing, and Dalet Media Cortex for AI-augmented workflows will also be demonstrated at the show, developing the first synergies between the Ooyala Flex Media Platform and the wider Dalet product range.

Leveraging AI to Augment Content Workflows – Dalet Media Cortex

The AI SaaS platform, Dalet Media Cortex, automatically enriches content and provides actionable insights, contextual recommendations, speech-to-text transcriptions and automated closed captioning, offering real value for both the users and the wider organization. An add-on to Dalet Galaxy five and Ooyala Flex Media Platform, the pay-as-you-go AI platform helps media organizations leverage cognitive services and machine learning across content operations and businesses. Providing the right insights, in the right toolset, with the right context, Dalet Media Cortex helps content producers, owners and publishers across news, sports, programs and radio operations make the most of their media assets and become more productive, automating mundane tasks so they can focus on the creative editorial process.

Advanced Broadcast Graphics with Brainstorm Real-Time Graphics Engine – Dalet CubeNG

Fully integrated across the Dalet Unified News Operations solution powered by Dalet Galaxy five, the state-of-the-art, full-featured Dalet CubeNG graphics platform is a major upgrade and leverages the industry-leading Brainstorm real-time graphics engine to deliver superior 2D and 3D branding and visuals. Suited for both on-air and file-based graphics creation, the Dalet CubeNG unified approach enables news broadcasters to easily create dynamic branding and up-level visual storytelling across traditional, digital and social channels.

Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for media organizations and content professionals, today announced that Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) has expanded its Dalet installation to improve overall fan engagement and experience as well as tap into new markets that ultimately increase revenue. The state-of-the-art Dalet solution features advanced sports production and distribution for MLSE’s four professional sports teams:  Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL), Toronto Raptors (NBA), Toronto FC (MLS) and Toronto Argonauts (CFL).

“Professional sports have always been a ‘now’ focused-type of entertainment and the digital era has brought in a whole new world when it comes to fan engagement,” comments Shannon Hosford, Chief Marketing Officer at MLSE.  “Our number one goal is to provide a unique media experience and deepen fan engagement before, during and after the game. Dalet allows us to focus on telling the timely stories that matter to fans right now – whether it’s creating snackable content from interviews, a look into the lives of players, or deconstructing a spectacular play moments after it happens. It also gives us the ability to reuse that content for a related story in the future; connecting the history of the organization to that ‘now’ moment, which deepens the passion our fans have for their favorite team.”

MLSE captures an enormous amount of content from games, practices, media scrums and interviews, and carefully curates that content for delivery to an omnichannel experience their fans have come to expect. Leveraging Dalet Galaxy, MLSE effectively wrangles content with a detailed metadata scheme that makes it accessible and useable in the moment and in the future.

Rebecca Waters, Manager – Media Asset Management at MLSE

By unifying content ingest, production and distribution into a cohesive ecosystem, Dalet Galaxy enables operations to have greater agility to share content across divisions, bureaus and remote locations, driving the interconnected storytelling they require across the brand.

“Content is becoming increasingly more strategic for sports networks, leagues, teams, venues, and brands to better engage and retain their fans, whether it’s direct or through a network of providers,” states Frederic Roux, Vice President of Sales, Dalet. “To be competitive, you need a supply chain such as Dalet Galaxy that can manage the rich content inventory as it grows, effectively utilize it, and quickly tap into new opportunities when they arise. With its agile orchestration and publishing workflow, Dalet Galaxy manages content lifecycle with the built-in flexibility required to make those critical ‘in the moment’ adjustments that keep fans dialed in at all stages of the game experience.”

Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for media organizations and content professionals, today announced that Israeli national radio network Galei Tsahal (Galatz) is upgrading to the Dalet Galaxy five Media Asset Management (MAM) and Workflow Orchestration platform to enable workflows that better serve its audience with greater access to content across its digital channels and social networks. A leading music radio station that sets the tone and playlist for the country, Galatz is also known for its news and thematic programs featuring politicians, military leaders, and influential citizens. A Dalet customer since 2006, Galatz undertook the upgrade to enhance production and delivery of its music and news-related content through social media networks, enhance its reporters’ abilities to file stories from the field using Dalet On-the-Go, and use AI-powered speech-to-text algorithms to enable wider accessibility to its rich historical archives, which date back to its founding in 1950.

“The upgrade to Dalet Galaxy five is enabling us to build a new content value chain, better integrating our social media channels across our operations, and leveraging AI services to make our entire inventory more discoverable and better monetized,” states Izak Pasternak, head of the technical department, Galatz. “We are able to make this quantum leap forward with the confidence of a decade-long partnership that is embedded in collaboration and success.”

Amplifying audience engagement

With Dalet Galaxy five, Galatz will be able to make all content that is produced in the production system available to social media publishing with a click of a button. Social media content performance (views, likes, shares) will be analyzed by the broadcaster; that data will be used to make better-informed decisions as to what to provide audiences next, helping to deliver a more enjoyable experience to listeners. Because the system is fully integrated with social channels, Galatz will be able to easily tap into the newly indexed archives and distribute topical collections of historical content across social networks – something that they have not been able to do before.

Izak explains, “In terms of social media, today there is no connection between the system that is broadcasting content and the social media channels we want to publish to. With more and more people consuming news and content through social networks, it’s imperative for us to move to an integrated platform that can help us engage with audiences on a whole new level. Dalet Galaxy five enables us to do just that.”

Reporting from the field

Connecting in-the-field reporters directly to the newsroom, Dalet On-the-Go lets journalists organize and submit comprehensive news packages from their mobile device. Users can record interviews, write stories, and assemble and upload packages to the Dalet Galaxy five content catalog for sharing across the station or sending direct to air.

AI opens the archives

With a vast amount of valuable historic information under its care, Galatz wanted to make its archives open to the public for the first time online. Leveraging Dalet Media Cortex, the new AI cloud service of Dalet Galaxy five, the network applied AI-driven, speech-to-text algorithms to all archived content, turning it into text that is both searchable and accessible via an online portal.

“Until now our content producers had to manually add metadata into the media asset management system, then an archivist would review it to make sure it was filled in properly,” explains Izak. “If our archives team wanted to find something, they had to remember how it might be catalogued and in which categories. Going back into the archive to transcribe it all manually would have been cost-prohibitive.” Izak continues, “Now, with Dalet Media Cortex everything is searchable since it’s processed through the speech-to-text engine. This saves us significant resource time and effort. And what’s more important, Israeli citizens can sit at home and enjoy the archive, simply by searching online. Dalet Media Cortex has made it extremely easy to search and find content from any point in time since 1950, which to a large degree, is the history of Israel itself.”

Dalet’s Johann Zemmour, general manager of Dalet EMEA and APAC concludes, “Dalet is proven time and time again as a trusted technical partner to help customers achieve successful business transformations. In this case for Galatz, Dalet’s forward-thinking development of AI tools within Dalet Media Cortex enables the network to expand the use of its archives by making an extremely large amount of content available and searchable to its citizens. That could not have been realistically achieved by any other means.” Zemmour concludes, “Galatz recognizes the importance of providing its audience with experiences on the platforms of their choice and worked closely with Dalet to deliver on that demand.”

Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for media organizations and content professionals, today announced that Moscow-based station ТВ Центр (TV Centre) will upgrade its media operation to the new Dalet Galaxy five Media Asset Management (MAM) and Orchestration platform, propelling an HD and beyond production and multiplatform distribution workflow that better connects content with their audience on the device of their choice.  A Dalet customer since 2006, TV Centre is a state-run Russia TV station with the fourth largest coverage in Russia after Dalet-powered broadcasters Channel One, Russia-1 and NTV.  Dedicated to programming that highlights various aspects of the Capital life, the channel airs nationally and is also broadcasted outside of Russian territory.

Facilitating TV Centre newsroom and program media needs from ingest to delivery, the initial Dalet installation featured the Dalet MAM with end-to-end News production, NCRS and playout for the newsroom and embedded production tools for unified search, assembly and distribution of program content. Under the new progressive Dalet Galaxy five powered workflow, TV Centre will move into HD production and delivery with the ability to support higher resolutions in the future. The broadcaster will also leverage the new Dalet Galaxy five Social Media Framework capabilities to further streamline its news content supply chain and expand its audience reach, outputting news content to all major social channels including Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. In addition to advancing its social media initiatives, the broadcaster will also be able to integrate its digital platform to its CMS for rapid publishing of news online. Completing the upgrade will be full integration of TV Centre Archives.

“The operational goal driving the upgrade to Dalet Galaxy five was our transition to the HD and AVC Intra as our mezzanine format,” explains Alexey Brusnitsky, technical director TV Centre. “However, this move is much more than a technical uplift and there is a bigger strategic picture at play for us at TV Centre. We also wanted to take advantage of the migration to evolve our operation and meet the changing demands of our audience as well as enable future technologies. We felt the Dalet Galaxy five platform offered the agility required to deliver on this ambition with Dalet as our trusted technology partner to help us get to that next level.”

Leveraging the Dalet Galaxy five Workflow Engine, TV Centre can now build and orchestrate ingest, transcoding and news automation workflows as well as employ specific archive file migration policies across the entire operation.

“The Dalet Galaxy five API integrations are also very appealing for TV Centre specifically for their archives,” explains Johann Zemmour, general manager Dalet EMEA and APAC.  “Connecting the archives into the workflow will give them a fluid, connected movement of content from ingest to playout to archive. Further, Dalet Galaxy five will give them the ability to employ IMF workflows in the future utilizing the Dalet AmberFin media processing platform and the Dalet Workflow Engine. The ease with which TV Centre has been able to advance its production and distribution capabilities while integrating a range of in-house systems, underlines just how robust and flexible Dalet Galaxy five is as a platform in which you can evolve the operation and maximize your ROI.”

Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for media organizations and content professionals, today announced that leading free-to-air Argentine network Telefe is to drive an expansive multiplatform workflow with the Dalet Galaxy five Media Asset Management (MAM) and Orchestration platform. The massive upgrade encompasses program preparation, production, output, and archive and will principally improve Telefe’s automation and social media workflow.

Telefe Upgrades to Dalet Galaxy five

Owned and operated by Viacom International Media Networks since 2016, Televisión Federal (known as Telefe) reaches 95% of all households in Argentina, a country of 43 million. Headquartered in Buenos Aires, it produces more than 3,000 hours of Spanish language video content each year distributed across eight regional channels, as well as a significant and growing multi-platform presence and, distributed globally over pay TV channel Telefe Internacional. Telefe also manages a library of over 33,000 hours of content. Dalet has facilitated Telefe’s broadcast, post, and archive workflows since 2014. The comprehensive installation gives Telefe producers, editors, assistant editors, and operators direct access to archives and workflow tools.

“We need to serve our audience by reaching them wherever they are and that means a huge expansion in our social media distribution,” explained Santiago Matias Guimerans Soto, vice president of technology and operations at Telefe. “Having successfully based our media operations on Dalet for many years it was natural for us to upgrade to Dalet Galaxy five to take advantage in particular of the workflow engine. This will give us greater agility and speed in developing new workflows to accommodate the creation and publication of content to social media and future platforms. Dalet is a solution that Telefe can continue to grow with over time. It helps us create new forms of revenue and reduces our time to market.”

Telefe plans to design and build an integrated media supply chain that encompasses ingest, transcoding and distribution using the Dalet Galaxy five workflow designer tool. The Dalet AmberFin media processing platform seamlessly integrates with Dalet Galaxy Five and drives Telefe’s QC workflows. Production and publishing of all program content to applications such as Mi Telefe (My Telefe) and Telefe Noticias (Telefe News) as well as YouTube, Facebook and other classic social media platforms will be much more efficient in Dalet Galaxy five.

“Telefe already represents one of Dalet’s largest installations in South America and our partnership is further strengthening with this next technology leap,” explains Julien Decaix, general manager Dalet Americas. “It is Dalet’s proven ability to connect production, post-production, and archives combined with the ease of content publishing to outlets like YouTube and emerging consumer platforms that first attracted Telefe. The flexibility of Dalet Galaxy five further allows them to smoothly integrate and manage the different video formats used by Viacom together with those of Telefe. The initial Dalet investment continues to give them complete interoperability five years later while enabling them to orchestrate new workflows introduced by outside operations with ease. This is a tremendous return on investment.”

Dalet, a leading provider of solutions and services for media organizations and content professionals, announced today that JKN Global Media PCL Thailand (JKN) has invested in the Dalet Galaxy five Media Asset Management (MAM) and Workflow Orchestration platform to optimize content production and delivery across traditional, OTT and social media distribution outlets. The installation enables a comprehensive workflow transformation, taking the Thai-based media organization from manually managing assets to automated processes that optimize production and delivery efficiencies across the entire media operation.

Headquartered in Nakhon Pathom, JKN Global Media, together with its subsidiaries, is a leading content distributor and licensing management business in Thailand. It is involved in the distribution of movies, TV series and documentaries for digital TV, cable satellite, home entertainment and OTT platforms. In addition to importing content from all over the world, JKN also produces original Thai-centric programming content for Discovery, History Channel and National Geographic. A large volume of JKN’s business is in the distribution of foreign language content to broadcasters, repackaging and dubbing this content into multiple languages in-house. It also plays out content to traditional and social platforms. With legacy workflows based on files and folders manually managed and exchanged from one group to the next, there was no integration, processes were time-consuming, and assets were left unenriched.

“JKN Global Media had the core goal to increase overall productivity, in terms of content, and boost distribution efficiency by adopting facility-wide migration policies, automated transcoding, and expansive metadata tagging and tracking,” states Cesar Camacho, general manager, Dalet Asia Pacific. “With Dalet, they have succeeded in doing this. They now have a platform, with which they can better serve content to viewers on any platform and evolve their business in reselling content. The agility of Dalet Galaxy five allows JKN to expand its capabilities without implementing an entirely new system. For example, they can easily add orchestration to take advantage of emerging technologies such as AI.”

With the goal of becoming more systemic and detail-accurate with regards to content management, JKN invested in Dalet Galaxy five. Moving from a legacy infrastructure that was characterized by pockets of content and asset management siloed across the facility, JKN has unified all of its systems and content repositories under one single platform with the flexibility to scale as business requires. Dalet Galaxy five provides browser-based access to content and assigns migration policies so content flows through a consistent process. All assets are centralized and detailed metadata tracking allows JKN to optimize the content use. Enriched metadata also means that it can pinpoint assets for production and delivery to all distribution outlets with far more efficiency.

The full implementation of Dalet Galaxy five at JKN Global Media includes: Dalet Webspace for browser-based search and retrieval; Dalet AmberFin for orchestrated, high-quality transcoding; and Dalet Xtend for seamless workflow collaboration between Dalet Galaxy five, Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid ProTools. There are further integrations with Aspera for accelerated file transfer and Vidchecker for QC. The Dalet platform integrates fluently with JKN’s business management and content management systems, with the organization’s playout system, and with all major social media platforms for frictionless online publishing.

Camacho adds, “Dalet’s entry into the Thai market comes hot on the heels of several key APAC customer expansions including ABS-CBN’s addition of Dalet at its Cebu news site in the Philippines and the enterprise rollout of the Dalet media asset management and workflow platform at Australia’s Special Broadcasting Service. These diverse and large-scale implementations are a testament to Dalet’s ability to support broadcast networks transformation to faster, agile multiplatform content supply chains.”
